Besides of buckwheat, quinoa is a very helpful food in allergy management. It does include all eight essential amino acids, which makes it easier to let grains and legumes aside, if one is a vegan allergic.
White quinoa is very easy to digest and feels light in the stomach and mind. Well paired, it feels almost, as if one has not eaten. But instead had a great satisfying meal. Especially, as I like to have fulfilling food in the evening that calms my overactive self, without weighing me down. Allowing me, to get a good night's sleep.
Seasonally seen, I prefer quinoa in warmer temperatures and buckwheat in colder climate.
But that may be a matter of opinion and constitution, since both plants have been cultivated in high altitude regions in the world.
I use quinoa in recipes where usually rice is used. It can’t really substitute the heavenly taste of good rice, but at least it is grain like and mild in taste.
If your histamine tolerance is low quinoa might be the better choice over buckwheat. I stick to quinoa in times my symptoms or eczema occur.
