Histamine
Intolerance.

Texts / Thoughts.

Intro
Histamine is, what makes your cheeks and ears flush after drinking a few sips of red wine or sect. I also greatly observed it on chocholate, green and black tea, vinegar, cheese, joghurt, soy sauce, yeast, sourdough, sauerkraut or other fermented foods. Histamine grows in stale or reheated foods. It is in eggs, seafood, spinach, tomatoes, tomato sauce, ketchup, eggplant and avocado.

IT’S IN ALMOST EVERYTHING EVERYONE LOVES!!!

Besides of developing a flush, people like I, also develop brain fog, rashes, eczema and runny nose. It makes very tired, sleepy and closed out. Histamine, can be the reason for headache, migraine, diarrhea, dysmenorrhea and a lot of other diseases.
Histamine might also accumulate, if one has a shock or is highly stressed or traumatized.

As an example: I do develop it if I’m standing in front of a crowd or even just a person and have to give a lecture. My brain just shuts down and I don't remember anything I wanted to say. It's to much attention, information and stress at once.
You can imagine, that some of the things, that nowadays are promoted for developing self–confidence, seem terrible to me. And you can imagine that there are certain jobs/fields I should not work/be in. Even artificial light sources can cause me irritation. But you can also imagine that there are certain jobs/fields, I should work in, because of this kind of awareness.

Histamine and woman
Histamine is closely linked to hormones, especially female hormones. Women do have more often problems with high histamine and should refrain from anything that causes their system over alertness or harm.
It might be, that woman in (pre-)menopause might lessen their symptoms, if they follow a diet low in histamine. I can't write more about that, since I've got lack of experience (not yet there). But I have the feeling that some of the often described symptoms might relate.

Histamine and Long COVID
I never had Long COVID, so this is just an idea of mine. I guess a lot of symptoms described might be «maybe» lessened by a diet. This pandemic was a very stressfull happening for many people. If I would suffer from Long COVID, I would try to make changes in diet. A lot of symptoms sound like a new found sensibility which leaded to overstimulation. Brain Fog, tiredness and anxiety can be lessened by foods low in histamine, less stress and a proper lifestyle and sleep routine. Also sattvic diet might give release here – it's worth a try, I guess.

Connected
If you know the term "sattva" from ancient Sanskrit literature, or have read about it in one of my texts, you may recognize some similarities between this concept and the histamine in foods. The sensitive yogis back then, maybe 3000 years before us, probably already recognized the different influences of food on the body. There are similarities between what is recommended for a positive body feeling in yoga and what is recommended today, if there are difficulties with histamine. Perhaps we should not constantly reinvent the world, but get on with what is already found out.

Indivitality
Histamin does not shows the same in every person. I have a lot of recipes where I use buckwheat. I strictly refrain from histaminbombs since a longer period and buckwheat works very well for me now. Sufferers from a histamin intolerance might have to try if this works for them too. Optimistically they do not have pollen related cross-reactions and can eat rice, millet, and grains.
