Gallbladder.

Texts / Thoughts.

Years ago I had a gallbladder removal (known as cholecystectomy), since I had stones and was suffering from frequent colic attacks. It was very painful, the attacks as the surgery. Read here some insights of how I live without it and my thoughts about, why it is getting worse again (sadly).

Dietary changes after removal
After the removal I had to change my diet. Otherwise it gets uncomfortable. It is not possible to eat fatty and sugary or bloating heavy meals. I never eat deep-fried food, never more than a tablespoon of good oil per meal, no industrial sugar. I no longer eat animal products and no cream like things or desserts. On sundays or on exceptional days I bake small cakes or muffins and eat it as a breakfast.

Since the removal, I have to stick to a regular food intake. Three meals a day, never eating too much. I also get uncomfortable if I get hungry. Small meals, sometimes a small snack do good.

Why I still have pain
As every human being, I tend to decrease in health. It is no secret; already accumulated diseases do not get better when getting older. The fact of being a woman, female hormones and age have an impact on the gallbladder.

At this time of life (40 years): During times of ovulation, pain and movement of galltubes gets worse. Also the internal scars lead to pain, during this time. As during menstruation. The problem: the less I eat, because of pain, the worse it might get. Since it is not only being too fat, which leads to gallstones, but also to be too skinny and internally dried out. It also get worse when emotionally upset.

Future: might get worse during menopause.

What to do about it
If it does not do good any longer: I refrain from it. This applies to excessive sport, foods, but also applies to human relations which are wearing. I'm becoming an island, of a lonesome prisoner. Since I'm so weak and so angry.
